BTM Preferred Agencies Berlin e.V. was founded at an unspecified time. The association’s future can only be guarantied by compliance with ethical guidelines. The most important guidelines are as follows:

1. The association was founded in order to promote Berlin as a destination for meetings, incentives, conventions and events (MICE).

2. The association was founded to set standards within Berlin. This requires abidance by quality standards and guidelines adopted by the association.

3. The most important aspect of the association is its membership. All members must treat each other respectfully, openly and honestly.

4. The association relies on the participation of its members.Members must actively participate in the life of the association, be prepared to help each other, and not stand in the way of mutual cooperation.

5. The association was founded in order to combine the market power of the leading MICE agencies of Berlin. This market power can only be exploited effectively if the members are worthy representatives of the association.

6. Market power increases with the number of members. Every member should make efforts to recommend the association to appropriate colleagues within their respective areas.

7. Clients, institutions, the BTM, hotels, venues, and other event service providers are partners of the association. The members are obligated to conduct themselves respectfully, professionally, and in a business like manner with these partners, notwithstanding the combined market power of the association.

8. In order to support the promotion of Berlin with adequate facts and figures, every member is obligated to provide statistics to the Berlin Convention Offices (BCO), for example congress statistics. Data about completed events should also be disclosed to the association (revenues, gross profits (profits margins), earnings, and activity levels).

9. Financial expenditures are required to effectively market Berlin as a MICE destination. Every member is obligated to pay the association 5% of its profit margin (gross profit) as a marketing fee from contracts won through the association or the BCO.

10. Every member is obligated to provide feedback to the association regarding the outcome of requests forwarded by the association.

11. In the interest of the smooth and effective operation of the association, member owners or managers must either personally appear at member meetings or name a dedicated representative.

12. In order to promote synergy among members, members should pass on information from their area of specialization and offers of further training (for example from other membership associations) to other members.

13. In order to achieve the association’s goals efficiently and over the long term, every member is obligated to volunteer in some capacity and work actively in the association (for example in committees).

14. For the purpose of gathering evidence of quality standards, every member is obligated to submit to the board of directors at least twice a year evaluation questionnaires from events gotten on their own as well as from all those jobs gotten through the association.
